Crossapol product shot

What is Crossapol?

A revolutionary formaldehyde free hoof-hardening treatment that actually strengthens and protects the hoof wall while restoring natural moisture balance. Gluteraldehyde, which has been proven safe by the FDA for human use, replaces formaldehyde.

Crossapol is the shortened term for cross-link aldehyde polymer, a chemical term for a solution that helps bind the protein or keratin, the molecules responsible for making a strong hoof. Bonding protein molecules creates a denser, stronger structure, making it more resistant to the damage of excessive moisture and chemicals such as the ammonia in urine. Crossapol actually penetrates and works on the cellular level of the hoof and immediately improves it.

Results have been verified in the field where Crossapol has been used to treat secondary fungal infections. These remarkable results have been achieved and noted by farriers and vets when Crossapol is applied to the hoof immediately after trimming. Prior to setting the shoe, Crossapol is painted on the ground surface of the hoof and the foot held up for a brief moment to allow the Crossapol to soak in. Newly exposed intertubular and tubular horn will then be sealed, slowing rapid transfer of moisture. For a severely damaged hoof wall, an application of Crossapol 10 to 15 minutes before nailing will help stabilize and strengthen the wall during the nailing process. This reduces the possibility of creating more cracks while applying the shoe.

Crossapol is very effective on mild to moderate cases of thrush. It also works well in halting degeneration of distal laminar tissues where separation provides access to infection from various harmful organisms.
